It all started fifty years ago…
Foundation
Isolatie en Handelsonderneming Bos Nieuwerkerk B.V. is founded by Leen Goedegebuure and Peter Bos, operating from a farmhouse on Albert van ’t Hartweg.
Office opening
Martine Goedegebuure gives a speech at the opening of the new office and factory floor on Albert van ’t Hartweg. She is just nine years old at the time.
Entering new markets
The company expands its activities into new sectors, including utility construction and industry, both in the Netherlands and abroad.
Expansion
After demolishing several outbuildings, the farmhouse itself is taken down to make room for the second phase of the office and workshop.
BGS Holland
BGS Holland B.V. (Bos, Goedegebuure, Stassen) is founded to sell loading bellows for dust-free loading of bulk goods. The bellows are produced at Bos Nieuwerkerk.
New ownership
Peter Bos sells his shares in Bos Nieuwerkerk and BGS Holland. Richard Stassen also exits BGS Holland. Both companies continue under the leadership of Leen and Ria Goedegebuure.
First pile
The office and workshop on Albert van ’t Hartweg no longer meet the needs of the growing company. In 1990, the first pile is driven for a new facility along the A20 highway.
New building
The new premises at Hoogeveenenweg 5 are completed. The new site is officially opened by Mayor Van der Goot.
Hall 4
The company continues to grow, along with the size and height of its chimneys. To meet increasing market demand, an additional production space (“Hall 4”) is leased.
Bos Leipzig
As part of her graduation project, Martine Goedegebuure researches the feasibility of a new office in Leipzig. This leads to the establishment of Bos Leipzig as a sales location.
Royal honour
In 1996, Leen Goedegebuure is appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
Transfer of shares
Leen and Ria Goedegebuure transfer their shares in Bos Nieuwerkerk and BGS Holland to their children: Eddy, Martine, and Walter Goedegebuure. Martine becomes managing director.
Going international
The number of international inquiries increases. Projects are carried out in countries such as Pakistan, Honduras, Tanzania, Indonesia, and Curaçao.
25th anniversary
The company celebrates its 25th anniversary with a Fantasy World Dinner Show at Studio 21 in Hilversum.
Largest in Europe
Aluminium & Chemie Rotterdam, better known as Aluchemie, commissions the production of the largest free-standing chimney in Europe — 120 metres tall.
200 metres high
Commissioned by Ballast Nedam, the energy plant of the Isla refinery in Curaçao is renovated. Bos Nieuwerkerk delivers three chimneys, each 200 metres high.
Modular concept
The product portfolio is expanded with ‘Bertrams’ chimneys — a modular concept for small-scale industrial applications.
Turnkey
Important steps are taken towards delivering turnkey solutions for the removal of flue and process gases.
Standards and certification
Since 2013, Bos Nieuwerkerk complies with all European standards and holds certifications for structural design, steel construction, safety, environment, control, and quality management.
Tough times
The company faces challenges due to the aftermath of a recession and several unprofitable projects. A thorough evaluation leads to restructuring into a project-based organization.
Recovery
Following a risk assessment, portfolio review and organizational restructuring, the company recovers. A new logo marks this fresh start.
Acquisition of Heat Matrix
Bos Nieuwerkerk acquires Heat Matrix, integrating heat recovery into its service portfolio.
Ministerial visit
The company is visited by Minister Van Gennip (Social Affairs and Employment) and Jacco Vonhof (Chairman of SME Netherlands).
New leadership
The management team is expanded: Peter van Veelen becomes CEO and Martine Goedegebuure takes on the role of Chief Strategy Officer.
50th anniversary
Bos Nieuwerkerk celebrates its 50th anniversary with a series of events and a company-wide trip.
Winner of the 2024 Entrepreneur Award
Bos Nieuwerkerk and sister company Heat Matrix win the 2024 Entrepreneur Award for the Midden-Holland region.
