Nova: working smarter and with more enjoyment through AI
Recently, we published a blog about our shared journey toward lekker werken: the guiding framework behind everything we do to improve job satisfaction and build a healthy, inclusive, and sustainable future. Today, we take the next step on that metro line: using AI to make our work both smarter and more enjoyable.
Last week, we officially launched Nova — our own internal AI assistant, developed together with the Datacation team. Nova is available to everyone at Bos Nieuwerkerk and Heat Matrix, from production and sales to assembly and engineering. Her purpose: to help us safeguard our knowledge and make it easier to find and share.
Technology that elevates people
At Bos Nieuwerkerk and Heat Matrix, we believe technology should support people in doing their best work. Artificial intelligence can simplify tasks, make work more challenging in a positive way, and even add enjoyment. Think of automatically generated inspection reports, a digital knowledge library, or data-driven support for complex projects.
Nova puts this philosophy into practice. Colleagues can ask her questions on topics such as:
- welding and manufacturing techniques
- quality, safety, environment, and certification
- knowledge transfer
- HR matters, such as our collective agreement
Nova not only provides insights — she also learns continuously. The more she is used, the more accurate and helpful she becomes. In this way, our shared knowledge grows and remains available to everyone, including future colleagues.
Knowledge that endures
The strength of our organisation lies in our people and the expertise they carry with them. But knowledge can easily be lost: when someone retires or moves into a new role, valuable experience may disappear. Nova helps us preserve that knowledge long-term and make it accessible whenever needed.
This makes us better equipped to support our customers and partners: we can respond faster, back up our decisions more effectively, and continuously learn from real-world situations.
Learning and growing together
The introduction of Nova is not the end of a project but the beginning of an ongoing development. Together with our teams, we will continue to expand and refine her capabilities step by step. Only by working together can we unlock the full value of this tool.
We are entering a new chapter in which we explore how AI can enrich our daily work. Not because we have to, but because it empowers us — making our work smarter, more enjoyable, and more meaningful.
